The nesthouple is back with our review of The Canopi which is the 2nd property we stayed on for our 3d2n minimoon at Bintan! At Canopi, we got to experience the best of both worlds – Glamping (glamorous camping) and Maldives-like blue waters at a wallet-friendly price.
Upon booking a stay with The Canopi, you’ll be prompted to book your ferry tickets through Bintan Resort Ferries and to advise the reservations team your ferry details so that complimentary transfer can be arranged for you from Bandar Bintan Telani Ferry Terminal to the resort. The resort is only a 5mins drive away from the terminal.
If you’ll like to experience 2 properties like us, simply hop onto the free shuttle from the other property back to the terminal to be picked up by the shuttle of the 2nd property! The 6.3 hectare (~5 football fields) wide man-made salt water lagoon welcomes you upon your arrival.
We had chosen the Safari Tent which is the one of the basic of 5 tents Canopi offers. If you’ll like to enjoy an outdoor whirlpool tub, consider topping up for the Deluxe tents. The new Glamping Deluxe Tent is the most suitable for honeymooners 🙂
Similar to Bintan Lagoon Resort, the Canopi had made a special touch to our minimoon with a lovely swan decor on our bed!
We were amazed at how the tent could remain fully air-conditioned without proper walls. Remember to keep your ‘door’ closed at all times to prevent bugs from flying in.
My favourite part of our tent had to be the outdoor balinese bathroom! The outdoor element added to the glamping experience!
After check in, it was only a few hours before sunset so we rented a scooter from the activity centre for 2 hours (~ SGD 10) to ride around the Canopi. You dont need a licence for this as the speed goes up to a max of only 30km/hr. If you’ll like to ride the scooter out of Canopi, take the half day (SGD25) or full day rental (SGD35).
We took a dip in the lagoon to enjoy the sunset. Although it was a weekend, the lagoon was almost empty.
Dinner at the cafe bar at the Canopi was convenient, food and price were so-so. For the more adventurous ones, you can order a DIY BBQ set from the cafe which will be delivered to your tent!
Complimentary breakfast for 2 was at the same cafe with mostly a western spread and an omelette live station! Bintan Lagoon Resort has a much wider spread for its breakfast buffet though its at least 5x more crowded.
Before check-out at 11.30am, the nesthouple headed back to the activity centre for the slides which costs about SGD5/pax (with float) for unlimited slides. The slides will make you fly out with your float but safe within the set boundaries. 1 of the more exciting activities at the lagoon besides wakeboarding.
The nesthouple would recommend couples/ families to experience both Bintan Lagoon Resort and The Canopi if you’ve at least 2 nights at Bintan as the activities offered on both properties and experiences are different and worth a stay! For couples who’ll like a more chillax holiday, The Canopi will be a better choice 😉
The nesthouple gives The Canopi:
Ourcozynests chirp: Glamping (tent) experience & safari-themed decor
Ourcozynests booboo: Walking distance to the activity centre is quite far on foot, The Canopi might want to consider shuttle services for guests
