It has been 2 years since my last stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. This time, I was lucky to get fully sponsored by the boyfriend for a night’s staycation at Ritz Carlton on my birthday! It was our first staycation together and we looked forward to indulging ourselves in the world acclaimed 6-star hotel!
At 2pm, we were notified via SMS that our room on the 6th floor was ready, an hour before the standard 3pm check in time. Drive-in to the carpark/hotel is along Raffles Ave,opposite the Floating Platform seating gallery. Stepping into the lobby, the soothing lightings and scent indoors were calming. Check in was a breeze.
Complimentary tea and coffee were available for guests waiting to check in/out.
Special kids check-in to make their stay at Ritz Carlton unique. Something which we have not seen before in other hotels.
Besides the fine standard of service, what’s even more unique to The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore is the $5 million worth of art pieces displayed throughout the hotel. You can rent an iPod from the concierge to go on a 28 min art tour around the hotel. Fengshui also runs deep in the architecture of the hotel.
The cornucopia which is the main centrepiece of the lobby is said to be the start of a dragon’s throat where the 2 glass panels at the main lobby signifies the eyes of the dragon. The winding stairs from the lobby signifies the dragon’s throat while water that runs down the water feature of the winding stairs is known to bring everflowing wealth.
We had informed Ritz Carlton that our stay was for a birthday celebration and requested for a room on a high floor with early check in during our online booking. Although the hotel did not accede to our request for high floor, we were given a free upgrade of our Deluxe room from the Kallang view to the Marina Bay View which usually costs about $80 more.
The neutral shade of the contemporary furnishings brought out the timeless elegance associated with the Ritz Carlton brand name.
I was surprised to see the room specially decorated for my birthday as arranged by the boyfriend and the Guest Recognition team! Cute towel art with lovely roses 🙂
The breathtaking view of the cityscape from the signature octagon window proves its name worthy of the sexiest bathroom in Singapore.
With such an extensive range of bath amenities, you dont have to pack your toiletries for the next visit. I especially like the dental kit that comes with a mini Colgate toothpaste!
For those who would like some personal entertainment, bring along your laptop as you would be able to project onto the 46-inch LED TV using the connection port at the work desk. The rooms are so well-equipped. There’s even a mini ice bucket in the drawer.
Ritz Carlton’s fitness centre is the largest gym I’ve seen in a hotel. Besides the standard treadmills and weights, you can also find yoga balls. The sauna and steam room are also located here. What’s even better is the long opening hours of the fitness centre from 6am to 12am.
If you’re willing to spend more, go for a room at the Ritz Carlton Club, located at the top floor of level 32. You’ll enjoy the best view and personalised service that will make you come back for more.
The 25m pool is more suitable for a dip than laps.
There’s even a cold and hot Jacuzzi by the pool!All-day dining Greenhouse restaurant is open from 6.30am to 10.30pm. Check with the hotel before going down for your buffet dinner as Greenhouse features different themes (such as International Seafood) for different days of the week!
What about a cocktail at the Chihuly Lounge which opens till 1.30am? The lounge serves 8-course afternoon tea on weekday afternoons and afternoon tea buffet on weekends.
Ritz Carlton pays attention to fine service details. One example is the turn down service provided to all guests to prepare the room for bed. Notice the mat and bath slippers placed by the bed.
I love how sturdy yet fluffy the king-sized bed felt! Not to mention the many pillows to snuggle with. A good night sleep is guaranteed!
You would also find Venchi chocolates and a bookmark featuring one of the art pieces in the hotel placed on the bedside tables. Controls for the day/night blinds are within reach from the bed. Ritz has indeed designed the room with a guest’s convenience in mind.
